Junior Investment Analyst, Global Sourcing Team
As a junior investment analyst in our global carbon project sourcing team, you will support the team in developing, reviewing, analyzing project budgets and investment plans. You will propose or optimize project fund flow mechanisms, disbursement plans and controlling on the efficient fund use. During project negotiations, you will identify and manage project risk and support the negotiations team to optimize risk management in contractual and other arrangements.
During project implementation, you will have a controlling function and oversee fund drawdown and, together with the project manager, oversee project progress towards agreed milestones.

Key tasks and responsibilities
Structuring budgets, implementation plans and oversee cash disbursements for different implementation partners, NGOs, and communities working on forest conservation projects around the world
Contribution to the development of an initial project assessment (IPA) and of the project Due Diligence from the financial angle to allow to identify the most attractive carbon projects with the right level or risk management
Support during the negotiations phase with the project to adequately reflect risk management in contractual arrangements and project design
Controlling of efficient project implementation during investment phase, to allow for the investment to generate the expected outcomes and KPIs.
Prepare or contribute to preparing relevant project progress reports for third party investors or parties with a commercial relation with South Pole.
University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Environmental Science or another relevant field
1-3 years work experience, preferably in the area of forestry / land use / agricultural / community development project finance, project due diligence, carbon project development and/or community-based projects
Experience in project cash flow analysis and financial modelling, project risk assessment & mitigation and financial structuring & engineering
Basic knowledge of carbon credits, carbon standards and carbon project development, preferably including experience and understanding of community-based projects like clean cookstoves, water purification, and/or solar home systems
Basic knowledge of forest carbon projects including REDD+ and restoration
Excellent written and oral command of English. Additional languages, especially french, spanish or Bahasa Indonesia, a plus.
Solid legal and contract management knowledge a plus
Willingness to travel to other countries
