Project Manager Forestry and Land Use Team

As a part of the Projects and Development team, you will play a leading role in contributing to the carbon markets of tomorrow by implementing and managing the emission reduction projects and developing direct client relationship. You will be working with local communities and private owners for the design and development of carbon projects. If you are an enthusiastic professional with an understanding of AFOLU sector, especially REDD+, ARR, ALM or other land use projects, then we are looking for you!

Tasks and responsibilities

In a Project Manager role:

  • Responsible for the implementation and management of the emission reduction projects which includes: leading and drafting feasibility studies and project design documents, validation, monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) support under different standards (T-VER, CDM, VERRA, GS4GG, ICONTEC) among other local and international carbon schemes
  • Conduct site visits and travel to project locations whenever needed
  • Be a key point of contact and maintain good relationship with the sourcing team, Project Management Unit, Key Account Managers, project owners, clients, VVBs (DOEs or auditors) and other counterparts
  • Provide technical and business development support with project sourcing
  • Be aware of the process of negotiation and signing of ERSA or ERPA with the project owners, as well as of all the internal procedures in our internal project management tool
  • Proposal/Deliverable preparation and completion to the quality required by South Pole and the client
  • Define and plan content and structure to support the certification of the project: work plans, work schedules, budgets and deliverables
  • Schedule Technical Reviews and Quality Checks
  • Keep the team members informed of their progress in the project and remind them to stay within the time and budget agreed
  • Draft invoices and manage project owners' accounts
  • Update proposal/project information i and ensure all relevant documents are accessible at any time
  • Keep general information, milestones and cash flows in the project management tool up to date
  • Planning and development of site visits and other types of business trips/training in case to be required
In a collaborator role:

  • Support the Project Manager in proposal/deliverable preparation and completion of the project development cycle tasks to the best quality required by South Pole and the client. The nature of the support may be either technical or administrative depending on the nature, topic and complexity of the mandate
  • Ensure assigned tasks are completed on time and within the personal time budget
  • Development and coordination of site visit plans in case to be required

Your profile

  • University Degree in Forestry, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Sustainability or Climate Change and Carbon Mitigation or any related field
  • At least three years of work experience in Forestry, Sustainability Consulting, Climate Change Mitigation/Adaptation or related fields
  • Ability to manage targets and priorities and develop own goals
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills both in English and in Spanish
  • Ability to create high quality written documents (proposals and deliverables) in English and Spanish
