South Pole has launched a call for developers of renewable energy projects that have high social impact potential and are located in South Africa, New Zealand or Thailand.
South Pole is looking for renewable energy projects that have high social impact potential – in e.g. improving livelihoods – but that face a small funding gap in order to complete development plans and to deliver electricity services to people in need.
At this stage, South Pole is extending its call for developers who require up to 50% of the project's capital investment to close the financing gap and start installations. The higher the social impact and lower the financing gap, the higher the chance of receiving the funds.
The project should have a size of between 0.05MW and 1MW and be owned or controlled by a not-for-profit organisation, public school, hospital, university, or any other purposeful institution or community in need. Top priority countries for projects are South Africa, New Zealand, Indonesia and Thailand. Second priority countries are Chile, Colombia, and Saudi Arabia.
The call is an ongoing effort. But while there are no deadlines, developers are highly encouraged to contact South Pole as soon as possible, as opportunities will be closing as installations take place. There is only limited funding available.
Please reach out to Arturo Mora, Consultant, South Pole, a.mora@southpole.com for further information as well as relevant application forms. All submitted projects will follow a proper due diligence process.
