South Pole Group has partnered with Ethical Corporation, leading platform for business intelligence for sustainability, to ensure the full climate neutrality of Ethical Corporation's Responsible Business Summits organised in London and New York. The partnership follows Ethical Corporations' bold sustainability plan and recognition that there is a pressing need to reduce the carbon footprint of events through conference travel and food consumption.
“We as an organisation feel that it is important to look at our own impact and change the way that we do business for the better," says Krina Amin, Head of Strategy, Ethical Corporation. “It is important for our customers to know that by attending our events, their direct impact from attending is reduced - in addition to learning about how to enhance their own sustainability work. We are proud to be supporting South Pole Group's projects in our 16th Responsible Business Summit Europe and 5th Responsible Business Summit New York to offset our emissions."
“There is much more that can be done around the challenge of carbon emissions and the conference industry," says Sita Seidel, Global Events Manager at South Pole Group. “Ethical Corporation is one of the industry forerunners helping to set the standard for more sustainable events."
Ethical Corporation's investment in South Pole Group's forestry projects, Kariba REDD+ and Cáceres & Cravo Norte, will ensure that the following Ethical Corporation events are carbon neutral in 2017:
The community-driven Kariba REDD+ project in Zimbabwe and the reforestation-focused Cáceres & Cravo Norte project in Colombia both contribute to powerful social co-benefits that support the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
