Ethical Corporation, the leading platform for business intelligence for sustainability, has pledged to make its summits in London and New York climate neutral according to the rigorous label criteria set by South Pole.
In order to be eligible for the best-in-class "Climate Neutral Event" label, Ethical Corp will submit a dedicated sustainability strategy to further reduce event related emissions, and compensate unavoidable emissions by investing in South Pole's climate protection projects. The organisers will also report on additional sources for emissions, such as freight.
"We as an organisation feel that it is important to look at our own impact and change the way that we do business for the better," says Ed Long, Ethical Corporation. "It is important for our customers to know that by attending our events, their direct impact from attending is reduced - in addition to learning about how to enhance their own sustainability work. We are proud to be supporting South Pole's projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America to offset our emissions"
"Cost-savings and improved reputation are just some of the key benefits that come with understanding the environmental impacts of events and exploring ways to further reduce emissions", says Charles Henderson, Head of Corporate Climate Risks and Opportunities at South Pole. "We are proud to continue working with Ethical Corporation and supporting them in setting more ambitious sustainability commitments each year. We hope Ethical Corporation's leadership on sustainability will inspire their delegates as well as other event organisers."
South Pole's forestry projects in Northern Zimbabwe and Latin America, as well as a clean energy project in China will ensure that the following Ethical Corporation events are climate neutral in 2019:
The two organisations have partnered on sustainable event management since 2017.
