Events that are more than extraordinary

Marriott's meeting and event solutions just got even better. They're offsetting the entire carbon cost of every one of them, with South Pole.

Your event. Your contribution to nature.

"Never has it been more important that we do everything we can to reduce our environmental impact by providing programming that meets the needs and sustainability goals of our guests and customers. To accomplish this, our strategy is multi-faceted – we will embed sustainability in meetings & events, provide detailed metrics and reporting, and advance our customers' sustainability journeys by making their events climate-smart. Through our partnership with South Pole, we are able to offset each meeting, making customers' events more than extraordinary as they now contribute to nature."

- Tammy Routh, Senior Vice President, Global Sales – Marriott International

So, Marriott is scaling up their efforts to support their customers, wherever they are on the climate journey. How? By continuing to offer truly innovative, flexible, and sustainable meeting and event solutions, whilst offsetting the entire carbon cost of every one of them. While they're starting out with a selection of hotels, they have plans to extend this across the entire portfolio in the coming months.

Protecting species in North America

Conventional logging poses a threat to one of the most ecologically diverse regions of North America, the Boone Forestlands. This project focuses on sustainable forest management practices, ensuring the rare species that inhabit the woodlands continue to thrive for years to come.

Protecting the Amazon rainforest

Located near the Amazon's so-called 'Arc of Deforestation', Lábrea in Amazonas State suffers from the fourth highest deforestation rate in Brazil. This makes the area a priority for forest conservation worldwide. As well as contributing to climate breakdown and harming biodiversity.

Tree planting in China's southwestern mountains

Deep in rural Xichuan County, this project is planting carefully-selected native trees across 36.5K hectares of degraded mountainous land. As well as sequestering carbon as the trees grow, the project is creating fair-paying jobs and boosting the local economy across the region.

How does it work?

Reducing your carbon footprint is the first recommended step for people who care about our climate. However, implementing actions to reduce emissions and offsetting your own footprint is challenging.

That's why investing in high-impact emission reduction projects helps.
