Weitere Informationen zu den durch den Standard verifizierten Zielen für nachhaltige Entwicklung dieses Projekts finden Sie im obenstehenden Link zum Projektregister.
The project has 50 MW capacity that is generating electricity from 3 rivers ( Haporas river, Bargot river and Tapian Nauli river) in North Sumatera, Indonesia and sending the generated electricity to Sumatra Grid, replacing electricity from fossil fuel based power plants connected to the Sumatera Grid, therefore reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The project is a run-off-river system that consists of water weir and intake, settling tank, penstock, and a powerhouse. Infrastructure: • The generated electricity is fed into regional grids through the local grid, thereby improving the grid frequency and availability of electricity to local consumers (villagers and sub-urban inhabitants). Due to increased grid reliability, new opportunities for industries and economic activities arise along with prospects for local employment and overall development. Employment opportunities: • During both construction and operation, various kinds of mechanical work was required, providing opportunities for part-time and full-time employment. • The project activity generates employment in the local area which is a developing region.
In addition to reducing GHG emissions by providing an alternative to fossil fuel usage, the project boosts the local economy. During both construction and operation phases, various kinds of mechanical work are required, providing employment to local workers on a regular and permanent basis. The project delivers training sessions to build skills of the local staff, ensuring they are safe when working. Creating these opportunities is an important factor in alleviating poverty and slowing migration from the region.
