Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible

7. Energía asequible y no contaminante

305,000 Mwh

of renewable energy sent to the national grid on average per year

8. Trabajo decente y crecimiento económic

44 employment opportunities

created during the set up of the project with the aim to have 75% from the local region

9. Industria, innovación e infraestructura

10,600 solar panels installed

through an innovative 'concentrated solar power approach' (CSP), improving national infrastructure and technology transfer

13. Acción por el clima

205,000 tonnes of CO2e

mitigated on average per year

La solución

The project combats the use of fossil fuels by installing a solar energy plant in the Antofagasta region of northern Chile. With the help of solar panels converting endless energy from the beating sun into sustainable electricity, the plant generates 950,000 MWh of clean energy which is directly sent to the national grid.

El impacto

This project reduces Chile's reliance on carbon-intensive energy sources, displacing fossil fuels and reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions. It drives Chile toward growth and economic development, fulfilled by green and reliable power. By employing local workers, it provides sustainable income and skills training. It has also set up theatre and sports workshops for local children to improve the lives of the future generation in the region.
