In March 2021, TPG Telecom announced plans to power its entire operations across Australia with 100% renewable electricity by 2025.
"Our move to be powered by 100% renewable electricity meets a growing expectation of our customers and the wider community. As a leading telecommunications services company, and a major user of electricity, we believe we have an important role to play in reducing greenhouse gas emissions to address the threat of climate change. It's also an important step in our journey as we work towards aligning our business with the goals of the Paris Agreement."

TPG Telecom partnered with South Pole to help them set their renewable electricity target and assess procurement options. Key activities delivered by South Pole included:
Based on this road mapping exercise, TPG Telecom adopted a 100% renewable by 2025 target. This will include all of TPG Telecom's nationwide fixed and mobile network infrastructure as well as its office buildings and its retail network.
In addition to TPG Telecom's own on-site solar generation, this commitment to 100% renewable
electricity will be met by buying renewable energy products in Australia, providing a boost to the growth of renewable energy and the transition of Australia's electricity grid.
"The South Pole team were knowledgeable about market options for achieving a 100% renewable commitment and had a clear and structured process for helping us to evaluate those options. They were also flexible in their approach and committed to ensuring that we achieved the outcomes we were aiming for."
— Trent Czinner, Group Executive Legal and External Affairs, TPG Telecom
"It is great to see another large company recognising the important role of renewables in meeting their climate goals. TPG Telecom has set an ambitious target of 100% renewable by 2025 which shows that with stakeholder engagement and a robust strategy, transition to renewables in the near term is a viable and commercially-sound approach. The TPG team is working hard to align their business with the goals of the Paris Agreement and we are proud to be supporting them with this."
