You are cordially invited to our webinar The Rise of Renewable Energy in the ICT industry on 25 January at 5-6 pm (CET) and 26 January at 9-10 am (CET).
Big data. The cloud. Mobile. The era of digitization is here. Leading ICT companies are undoubtedly
disrupting the global economy by transforming entire industries, one megabyte at a time. This rapid transformation is a major contributor of greater energy efficiency across many sectors. Ironically, it is simultaneously increasing the carbon footprint of the ICT industry, as more electricity is needed to power new, bigger data centers.
Today, a majority of the world's electricity supply is powered by coal, which is a key driver of climate
change. Groundbreaking reports such as Greenpeace's "How Green is Your Cloud?" have questioned the industry's use of coal to power our digital infrastructure. It is no coincidence that leading companies such as Apple, Google and SAP have adopted 100% renewable energy strategies. Clearly, sourcing renewable energy to power data centers and production facilities is becoming a license to operate in the ICT industry.
However, the industries ambition to increasingly source energy from renewable sources are often met by
a number of restrictions: in supply, legislation or knowledge about available instruments, especially in emerging markets.
During the webinar, we will provide answers to some of the most loaded and pertinent questions:
