Tom is the Programme Manager of the ClimateWise initiative, facilitated by the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL). ClimateWise is an insurance industry leadership platform that explores how the industry can support the zero carbon, climate-resilient transition. It commissions action research exploring the potential capabilities within insurances underwriting and asset management activities. Tom joined CISL in 2015. Prior to that, he was a Senior Research Coordinator at the Centre of Criminology at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, where he managed numerous projects on environmental security, particularly with regard to the finance and natural resource sectors. He completed a PhD on the relationship between the global insurance industry and the Anthropocene. He has a BSc in Oceanography & Climatology and an MPhil in International Environmental & Marine Law.
