South Pole Group's Beijing office has recently signed a back-to-back deal for six solar PV projects located in Shandong Province, Shanxi Province and Jiangsu Province of China. The total capacity of the six projects is 159.8 MW and the annual emission reductions are 190k tCO2. The Chinese Certified Emission Reductions units from the projects will be sold to a Chinese investment fund.
There are currently 7 regional ETS pilots in China and the national ETS is expected to roll out in 2017. The national ETS will include nearly 10,000 companies with annual emissions of 4 billion tCO2. This is more than twice of amount of emissions covered by the EU ETS.
