Climate Week NYC in 2025 will bring together over 900 events and activities across New York City, both in-person and online. South Pole will take part in several events and is hosting a dinner and roundtable on carbon removals.
Dr Daniel Klier is South Pole's former Chief Executive Officer and Co-chair of the Strategic Advisory Board.
Daniel joined South Pole from sustainability data and technology platform ESG Book, where as CEO he oversaw the company's growth and established the business as global industry leader. He was previously Global Head of Sustainable Finance and Group Head of Strategy at HSBC, where he established the bank's net zero target and ambition to support the energy transition with 1 trillion dollars. Daniel started his career at McKinsey & Company, where he was a Partner, supporting companies to enhance their organisational performance and international growth.
A widely recognised sustainability expert, Daniel has served as the Chair of the Bank of England's Climate Working Group and Chair of the Institute of International Finance's Sustainable Finance Working Group. He serves on the Boards of the global sustainability reporting standard GRI and the international organisation Sustainable Energy for All.
Dara Olufon is a seasoned executive with over 15 years of experience in sustainability, decarbonisation, and large-scale business transformation. Prior to joining South Pole, he served as a Partner at McKinsey & Company in the UK, where he was a leader in the Global Energy and Materials practice. His expertise spans several key areas including energy transition strategies for hard-to-abate industries, clean hydrogen, biofuels, carbon capture, e-mobility, and renewables, as well as strategic counsel to global financial investors on climate-focused investments. His work has helped drive large-scale, impactful change within industries seeking to evolve and reduce their environmental footprint. Dara holds a strong track record in delivering high-level strategic insights and facilitating the transition to a more sustainable, low-carbon future. He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cambridge.
Himani Gupta is Head of Advisory for North America at South Pole, where she leads strategic partnerships with global corporations to design and implement ambitious climate strategies. With nearly 15 years of experience in corporate sustainability and decarbonization, she advises executive teams on embedding climate action into core business operations, strengthening disclosure readiness, and driving measurable progress toward net zero. Her expertise spans large-scale change programs that deliver sustainable competitive advantage, portfolio decarbonization strategies, transition planning and execution, and the integration of technological and digital solutions across operations and supply chains.
Himani holds dual master's degrees in Environmental Engineering and Technology & Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Amarie has experience working with a variety of multinational corporations on their sustainability mandates. She has managed relationships with clients across numerous industries to ensure they reach their targets.
Michael is an experienced carbon market professional with over 15 years' experience in portfolio management and working with senior international decision makers.
He has been with South Pole for over nine years and has held a number of senior roles, including head of the carbon portfolio team and global product lead for technological carbon removals.
Michael holds two MSc degrees in Climatology and Financial Mathematics and a PhD from the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research.
Kelly is an Associate Director at South Pole, bringing more than a decade of experience in corporate sustainability and scientific research to help global businesses enhance their sustainability performance with science-based strategies. Kelly leads South Pole's North American Agricultural Value Chains offering, guiding apparel, food & beverage and retail companies in building resilient supply chains. She helps clients navigate accounting and reporting, set climate goals, build decarbonization action plans and implement supplier engagement programs and supply chain insetting to drive business transformation. Kelly has a dairy farming background and holds a Ph.D. in Climate Science from McGill University.
Juliana Rademaker is a sustainability expert with extensive experience in climate strategy, environmental markets, and biodiversity solutions. Holding an MSc in Sustainability and Social Innovation from HEC Paris, she has worked with Fortune 500 companies in both France and the United States to develop Net Zero strategies and navigate voluntary carbon markets.
Colin is a Senior Key Account Manager for North America, holding 5 years of sustainability experience assisting startups to Fortune 500s on their climate change strategy and implementation. At South Pole, Colin focuses on partnering with companies in the food and agricultural industries to help them along their climate journey.
Rex is a Managing Consultant with deep expertise in helping companies turn climate ambition into actionable strategy. He has partnered with leading organizations across sectors—including agriculture, food and beverage, apparel, technology, and professional services—to develop comprehensive GHG inventories, build decarbonization strategies, and manage climate risks. In addition, Rex brings experience in change management, public policy, and supply chain operations. His holistic approach enables organizations to create long-term value by embedding climate action into core business strategy. He holds an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.
TechGen, a South Pole CDR buyers club, aims to scale removals from 2026. The club focuses on highly durable technological carbon dioxide removals enabling founding buyers to lock in their market position.
