In this session, we explored how to assess risk in diversified supply chains and how to conduct effective risk management strategies for global supply chains.
Featuring a Q&A with JG Summit, one of the largest conglomerates in the Philippines with diversified businesses spanning from food manufacturing to petrochemicals and real estate, we also deep-dived into a company taking action to navigate their supply chain complexities.
Matt has over 10 years of experience in consultancy specialising in energy procurement and energy market advisory services including familiarity with topics such as PPA accounting treatment. Backed by client management skills, Matt has an extensive track record in providing tailored risk managed advice across global markets to a broad sector including government, water utilities, commercial and industrial clients.
Before joining South Pole, Matt worked for an Australian based climate consultant, ERM Energetics, where he advised clients on their optimal renewable energy strategies and led end-to-end PPA transactions including cohort/group aggregation models. Matt has a Bachelor's degree in Commerce and a Postgraduate Diploma in Energy and Carbon Studies and is based in our Amsterdam office.
Luise has more than 4 years experience in weather and climate services and research. She holds a doctoral degree from the Department of Environmental System Sciences at ETH Zürich, where she co-developed research questions pertinent to the climate resilience of a Swiss power company. Her research focused on climate model data analyses and developing methods addressing weather and climate risks.
Yvonne Garcia Flores is the Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility Head of JG Summit Holdings, Inc. She leads the development of the conglomerate’s sustainability and corporate social responsibility (“CSR”) strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives, purpose and values. She sets the overall sustainability and CSR strategy framework within which relevant opportunities and issues are identified and then sets achievable targets, and oversees implementation. She is also responsible for monitoring performance versus agreed sustainability related performance targets and producing regular reports useful and relevant for critical stakeholders.
Yvonne focuses on realizing synergies within the group and working with government and non-government organizations to tackle carbon emission reductions, find solutions to plastic waste pollution and deal with food waste among critical sustainability issues that we currently face.
Internally, she designs and provides capacity-building opportunities for senior leaders to enable integration of Sustainability into decision-making. Her role is likewise to guide the businesses on best practices in engaging and giving back to communities through corporate social. responsibility programs.
She represents the group in sustainability-related external bodies through public speaking and industry engagement, ensuring the group’s views and advocacies are articulated and considered.
Prior to joining the Gokongwei Group, Yvonne worked for Intel Corporation for more than 18 years. Her last position was as Corporate Affairs Manager for Intel Philippines where she focused on Corporate Reputation, Government Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. She pioneered Intel’s education initiatives in the Philippines, which included teacher trainings, science fairs, and digital literacy training.
Yvonne graduated from the University of the Philippines- Diliman with a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics. She also has a has a Bachelor’s degree (cum laude) in Secondary Education, majoring in Mathematics.
