South Pole Group is excited to be a signatory of the Investor Confidence Project (ICP), supporting their mission of reducing energy building renovation performance risk, lowering transaction costs and increasing project demand.
The ICP is supporting the objectives of the European Commission, which has set an overall long-term target for the building sector of around 90% reduction of CO2 emissions by 2050. With buildings representing 40% of all energy consumption, improving energy efficiency in building renovation is critical to achieving these goals. The cost of renovations needed to achieve these goals are estimated at €3.5 trillion by 2050, or around €95 billion annually. This will require substantial private investment from institutions who view building renovation projects as safe and reliable assets.
