Saving fuel and conserving forests in Mozambique with efficient cookstoves
In Balama and Montepuez, Cabo Delgado, families cook with charcoal and firewood on low-efficiency stoves and three-stone fires. Fuel costs money and time, and smoke affects women and girls who cook. Fuel demand adds to emissions and forest loss: Mozambique lost 11% of its tree cover from 2001 to 2019.
