Providing clean cooking and conserving forests in India with biogas
In rural Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand, families cook on wood-fired mud stoves and three-stone fires. Households surveyed in Madhya Pradesh burned 3.79 tonnes of firewood a year on average. This fills homes with smoke, especially for those who cook, and adds to forest pressure and greenhouse gas emissions.
