South Pole Carbon – Myclimate 6-2
Game played 7 against 7
Once again South Pole Carbon managed to beat their cousins from the other side of the Sihl river in the annual Zurich Carbon Derby.
The game has been less onesided than the result may suggest and was quite balanced until 30 minutes from the end. Thanks to a great team effort and a stunning performance by Martin Christen, who scored 4 (!) goals, the guys from Technopark have been able to once more beat their historical rivals.
The game started with both sides trying to find the right moment to score. The first goal came from South Pole Carbon, who apparently studied better their opponents: Christen took advantage of a short rebound of myclimate goal keeper after a long distance assist pass by Rumiz. Shortly after the same situation, enabling Christen to take the score to 2-0 for the team in different shades of blue.
Myclimate, all in black but far from being dead, started to play very smoothly and just before the end of the first half, the Meyer brothers scored 2 goals, and the halftime-break saw a fair 2-2.
The second half started quite well for myclimate who were able to generate a lot of chances, but didn't manage to take advantage of them. The mean rule of football: in myclimate's best moment, the penguins punished them, again with the star of the night, Martin Christen. This player, raised in South Pole Carbon's youth team since his childhood, has now become an indispensable player for the team. South Pole Carbon started to rule the game once again and Martin scored another goal: 4-2.
15 minutes before the end of the match, penguin Roesch who is used to scoring deals with clients, decided that the times were mature to also score a goal against our climate rivals, and with a strong shot secured the 5-2. After a few minutes, the cherry on the cake, Cesare Scherrer, a true talent raised in our football school, scored a goal with a strong shot that literally bended the hands of the goalie: 6-2 and time to celebrate the victory for the Best Project Developer in the Carbon Market: South Pole Carbon.
A joint team picture and a crate of Paul 01 for both teams completed a great evening.
