Acquisition strengthens South Pole's services as corporate demand for renewable energy hits a record high: Global sustainability solutions provider South Pole has acquired Almach Energy, a UK-based renewable energy consultant and a European market leader for corporate PPA advisory services.
The acquisition strengthens South Pole's ability to serve a rapidly growing renewable energy sourcing market for corporate buyers, especially in the United States, Europe and Australia. As of 2019, over 150 companies have signed up to the RE100 initiative, which brings together the most influential businesses committed to 100% renewable power for their global operations.
Renat Heuberger, CEO, South Pole, says: "More and more companies, including Apple, IKEA and H&M, have decided to switch to 100% renewable energy. Not only does this make good business sense, purchasing renewable energy is also an integral part of most corporate climate strategies. With Almach Energy on board and our feet on-the-ground across five continents, South Pole acts as a single point of management and delivery for corporate renewable energy strategy and implementation globally."
As part of the acquisition, South Pole welcomes Almach Energy's renewable energy consultants to its growing team of experts, including
Paul Hill, Co-founder of Almach Energy and a seasoned professional with over 10 years of experience in energy procurement and corporate PPA advisory.
Paul Hill, Principal Consultant, South Pole, says: "We're excited about the positive synergies that we will realise by joining forces. The combined expertise of both companies perfectly positions us to deliver a comprehensive range of renewable energy solutions, to help companies achieve their environmental goals, and optimise energy sourcing globally."
Patrick Horka, Head of Renewable Energy Solutions, South Pole, says: "Companies with RE100 and other renewable energy commitments are now under pressure to show progress. With Almach Energy's experts, we have added increased PPA execution power to our existing offering in order to satisfy client demands in a market that has more than doubled in the past year."
