Analysis of renewable energy financing in ASEAN countries

South Pole, on behalf of the ASEAN-German Energy Programme (AGEP), has successfully conducted a comprehensive analysis of the existing policy and financial support framework for renewable energy in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region, where a specific focus was given to the three ASEAN member states: Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar. The study identified major barriers hindering private investments into renewable energy projects and developed a set of country-specific recommendations how to build a functioning support framework in which the private sector can contribute to the acceleration of renewable energy deployment in the region.

The report "Renewable Energy Financing in Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar: Support Framework, Challenges and Policy Recommendations" can be found here (

The ASEAN-German Energy Programme (AGEP) is a collaboration between the ASEAN Centre of Energy (ACE) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
