The Nam Hong Hydropower Project involves the construction of a two-step hydropower plant with total capacity of 16MW i.e. 8MW each and annual generation output of 63,020 MWh. The project is located on Nam Hong stream, in Chieng Cong commune, Muong La district, Son La province of Viet Nam
The project contributes to global climate mitigation efforts by displacing fossil fuel derived fuels. It also focuses on promoting sustainable development in the region: upgrade and improve roads that then will be integrated into the local traffic system, create jobs, and provide training so staff can develop their skills. At meeting with local residents water management was a very important issue, the project owner therefore has committed to strict measures to preserve local water quality and in addition the project has built toilets for the local community to use.
