Affirmative Investment Management (AIM) Case Study

Case Study: Assessing Climate Impacts of Green Bond Frameworks

The goal

Affirmative Investment Management (AIM) is a dedicated green and impact bond fund management company that wanted to understand the emissions reductions accomplished by the projects underlying different green bond frameworks.

The challenge

To further advance its capability to assess green bond frameworks and individual green bonds against sustainability criteria, AIM required expertise on the integration of climate risk criteria into their own framework.

The solution

As a first step, South Pole assessed the climate mitigation impact of 26 green bond frameworks and individual green bonds. In this context, South Pole applied The Carbon Yield 1, an innovative methodology to standardise potential avoided emission assessments.

1Carbon Yield is a universally applicable green bond assessment methodology that South Pole has developed in collaboration with partner organisations, on behalf of the Rockefeller Foundation.
