Nestlé Sanpellegrino partnered with Carbonsink, a South Pole company, to advance its net zero goals. We assessed the carbon reduction potential of regenerative agriculture in its supply chain, providing key insights to improve business resilience and guide its future climate strategy.
As part of the Nestlé Group, Sanpellegrino is dedicated to contributing to the company's overarching net zero commitment. To do so, it needed to assess the carbon reduction potential of regenerative agriculture and introduce new sustainable practices into its value chain.
To transform its climate ambitions into tangible progress, Sanpellegrino needed to understand the intricate workings of its production chain.
In collaboration with Carbonsink, Sanpellegrino embarked on a detailed investigation to pinpoint opportunities for carbon reduction and removal, laying the groundwork for integrating new, sustainable practices into its value chain.
Regenerative agriculture is a central pillar of the Nestlé Group's net zero roadmap. For Sanpellegrino, which exports its famous Italian fruit-based drinks across the globe, this meant exploring how these innovative practices could be applied within its own unique supply chain. Our role was to help them understand how implementing regenerative principles could not only reduce carbon emissions but also generate a positive impact on the climate, local biodiversity and surrounding communities.
The project armed Sanpellegrino with a clear understanding of its environmental impact, providing the critical knowledge needed to define the next steps of its climate strategy. This deep dive into its supply chain has improved its business resilience for the long term and sent a clear signal of its commitment to the net zero transition, contributing to wider emission reduction goals.
Italian citrus fruits have always been the basis for the success of Sanpellegrino drinks around the world.
Through partnerships with our suppliers, we want to contribute to making the production of citrus fruits increasingly sustainable, to have not only a product, but a whole supply chain with reduced carbon dioxide emissions.
