The Colombia Sustainable Fund was created with the aim to maximise the environmental, economic and social benefits of peace in Colombia. The Norwegian Embassy in Colombia, considering to invest in the Fund, was in need to understand issues related to fund governance, investment areas, impact assessment and sustainability.
The Fund's assessment was comprehensive in order to be aligned with its complex objectives, which are focused on promoting conservation, supporting sustainable rural development, building capacities in areas affected by armed conflict, and mainstreaming climate change considerations in the national development agenda.
South Pole, using both local and international expertise, assessed different aspects of the Fund including governance and structure, financial and risk mechanisms, and donor coordination. Based on the findings, recommendations and alternative solutions were proposed, which served as input for the design and establishment of the Fund.
